Oh So Lush. . .

Lush Cosmetics.

When it comes to looking after my own skin I will be the first to hold my hands up and admit that I am rubbish. When removing my makeup baby wipes are my best friend and when seeking a little moisture I will cover myself head to toe in whatever body lotion I can find at the time. (I know shocking right!) Over the years all this bad behaviour has resulted in my skin looking and feeling rather dehydrated, so I decided enough was enough and hauled myself off to the shops.
I was immediately enticed into LUSH by all the different smells, colours, and weird lotions and potions going on in there, as soon as I was in I explained what I wanted and the lady who worked there couldn’t of been more helpful, she was letting try out everything it was a lot of fun! I ended up buying a cleanser and two facial masks.

Let me start with the cleanser which is now my holy grail, I will wash my face with this in the mornings and remove all my makeup with it at night, it is called ultrabland facial cleanser.
This cleanser is so simple and easy to use, you just smooth it all over your face including your eye area and any dirt or makeup will cling to the cream and then you just remove it with a warm damp cloth or cotton pads. It’s made with almond oil, rose water, beeswax and honey, which gives it that thick creamy consistency and its delicious smell, the cleanser it suitable for all skin types and helps with hydration, it cleans your face brilliantly without stripping away your skin’s natural defences, just leaving you with beautifully soft skin.
I cannot photograph mine as unfortunately its all gone, but I will defiantly be purchasing it again soon, at £6.95 you are given a generous amount in a small tub, I was using this twice a day, every day and as you only need a small amount it lasted blooming ages - such a fantastic buy!

Next is my favourite mask out of the two, Catastrophe Cosmetic fresh faced mask. It’s used to calm and moisturise the skin, and apparently the mind, this mask is made up of blueberries, calamine and chamomile, rose, and almond oils so it has a very soothing and soften affect on the skin. It’s also supposed to protect the skin from damage as it includes antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E from the blueberries. My favourite thing about the mask is the smell, it’s just beautiful, so a fresh but quite sweet. Its best to apply quite a generous layer of this mask onto clean skin, I use a facial brush as it can get a bit messy.

I only brought a sample of Oatifix to try out which is another mask. This nourishing mask is made with fresh bananas and illipe butter to moisturise dry skin. Oatmeal, ground almonds and kaolin work together to mildly exfoliate the dead skin cells. Now the only thing that puts me off this one is the smell, I can really see most people loving this smell but for me its just a little too rich which is such a bummer because out of the two I would say this one gave me the best results, my skin felt clean and refreshed, very awake and norished, with these results I dont think the smell is going to put me off buying it again I will just have to learn to love it.

So both of these masks cost around £6.25 and I would say you can probably get around 5 or 6 applications out of them both. They are recommended to both stay in the fridge so when they are applied they go on really cold, I really loved this because it seems to reduce redness, puffiness and gave my skin a real calming effect.
The one thing I was a bit put off by was all the products have use by dates on them of only a month, which is understandable as their all made from fresh products etc  but is quite annoying for someone like me who only has time to do a mask say every other week or so, so I have been naughty and ignored the dates as I didn’t want to waste them, so far I have found no difference in them, I still keep them in the fridge, they smell the same, look and feel the same, and the results on my skin are all still the same, so don’t be worried if you haven’t used it all up by the date.
You leave these masks on for around 10 to 15 minutes, these are certainly not masks that you can sit in for half an hour or more as the mixture does start to crumble away quite quickly which then goes everywhere, I actually prefer this as I don’t have to sit there and wait for it to dry it’s just done in 10 minutes I then remove it with warm water and cotton pads.
Quick, easy, done!

Many women I’ve spoken too will openly admit that they will spend £100's on a dress to go out in and only wear it once, but will always look to by the cheapest skin care products which they then use every day. Now after spending a couple weeks looking after my skin and spending some money on products instead of just using the samples out of my cosmopolitan mag, I can really truly tell the difference already, my skin looks more radiant, healthier and just feels amazing, so ladies and gentlemen I have come to the conclusion that if you are willing to spend your pay cheque on the latest pair of shoes or on a designer handbag - then why not spend it on your skin, yes some moisturise and cleansers can be expensive but see it as an investment, after all you only get one face so why not look after it as much as you possibly can.
