The Clown

So here's the thing, for everyone that remotely knows me knows that I am petrified of clowns, I mean faint or punch you in the face scared, there's no in between for me. So when all the requests started coming in the Halloween and a clown was at the top of the list I was like HELL NO. However I do aim to please so I gave it ago for you guys, BUT  and this is a big but this is as scary as it's going to get even when I was wearing this I was making myself jump.

There's nothing better than a good ol' demonic possession on Halloween, fun and easy to do just slap a + on your forehead and your good to go!
People are always asking advise when it comes to using Derma Wax my repeated advise to everyone is to handle it as little as possible if handled to much it causes it to go tacky, which then makes it a nightmare to apply. Apply to clean skin and then add makeup over the top, the Derma Wax will stick better to your skin than it will when you have makeup on because of the oils in the makeup.

Here's how I created this look. . .

NYX Cosmetics - SFX crème colour, white

MUA Luxe Bronze & Sculpt Contour Kit - Light/Medium

Mehron Bruise Makeup Wheel

Grimas Professional Film Blood

Grimas - Derma Wax

Ben Nye Proffesional Fresh Scab Fake Blood

Have a Spooktacular Day!

"The Other Mother" - Coraline

If anyone hasn't watched Coraline, I urge you to watch it now! For a kids film it's quite creepy it was directed by Henry Selick who also directed The Nightmare before Christmas. The other mother later turns into a twisted, spider, skeleton creature who tries to trap Coraline and sew buttons into her eyes! (twisted right).
Having a black background definitely helped create the illusion of a skeleton and let me just tell you, trying to take pictures while buttons are stuck on yours eye lids was not an easy experience!
I loved this look and think it would be great for Halloween it was very easy to do.

Here's how I created this look. . .

NYX Cosmetics - SFX crème colour, black and white

Makeup Forever - Black Tooth Enamel

Makeup Forever - Graphic liner, bright black

Mac Cosmetics - Duo Glue

Grimas - Derma Wax

Have a Spooktacular Day!

Today's Look

November Frost

November, already! Where has this year gone? Although that does mean we are ever so slightly closer to Christmas! I am one of those annoying people that dries others mad by putting their decorations up in November, I just cant help it everything looks so pretty!
It is getting pretty chilly so I decided to go for quite frosty colours, I  did pair it with a bright pink lip, but I was like "woah I look like I've just walked out of the 80's" so decided to keep the lip more simple and let the eyes do the work.
Here's how I created this look. . .

Lips: NYX Intense Butter Gloss - Spice Cake (patted in with my fingers and blurred out with a sponge)

Highlight: Contour & More Glow Drops - Prosseco

EyesMac Paint Pot - Soft Ochre
Urban Decay Moondust Palette - Galaxy / Vega / Magnetic

Urban Decay Electric Palette - Urban / Revolt
          Mac - Steamy
NYX Face & Body Glitter - Silver

Lashes: House of Lashes - Smokey Muse

Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hill Dip Brow - Ash Brown

The Pumpkin

Very Halloween is slowly approaching, it is by far my most favourite time to be a makeup artist this is my chance to let my creativity run wild and to create something other than my usual "pretty" designs.
Saying that thought, while creating this scary pumpkin look I had a real love hate relationship with it, first I finished it, took a handful of pictures (where normally I take a good 50+ to get that "perfect" one) then took it off, started it again, which didn't end well so I decided to scrap it.
My only trouble with  Halloween looks is I don't like them to look over "facepainted" which is absolutely ridiculous because that's exactly what your using. . . these looks always take me a lengthy amount of time so I start to get sick of seeing them before I have even given it a chance.
This picture was actually destined for the folder of "back up designs" when I showed it to a couple people and there immediate reaction was "ergh, that's terrifying" which is exactly what you want when you create something for Halloween.

So here is my first of many Halloween looks of 2017!

Here's how I created this look. . .

Grimas water makeup in orange and black

Mac water makeup in white

Mac eyeshadow in Saddle

Mac pigment powder in copper

Product Review

L'Oreal True Match

Welcome back everyone, so lately I've been asked what foundation do I use on a day to day basis.
For everyday purposes I don't really tend to use a high end foundation I do prefer to save them for when I go out or for something important so there's a difference in the way my skin looks. Loreal True Match foundation is my go to for everyday flawless skin.

Before I start this review I'd like to say that these are my own opinions based on my skin type, which is normal/dry.

Product description by L'Oreal

L'Oreal's #1 foundation is now available in 23 shades and matches 98% of UK skintones. L'Oreal's velvety formula matches your skin’s unique tone and texture, for a true to skin finish: flawless, blendable, and never fake.
L'Oreal's 23 shades range from warm to neutral to cool undertones, to ensure your foundation is right for you. Whilst your skin tone is visible on the surface and can alter through the seasons, your skin undertones are determined at a deeper level, they are part of your skin and never change. Each complexion has its own undertone: pink (cool), neutral or golden (warm), so you can now find a match that’s true to you.

This foundation is a medium coverage foundation but can be built to a full coverage with an extra layer, it has neither a matte or dewy finish instead more of a satin finish and it does give a blurred effect to the skin to help conceal lines and blemishes. It is very lightweight so the formula is quite running but it is so comfortable on the skin it feels like you are wearing nothing.

I like the wear this foundation has on my skin throughout the day, I find my skin has a lovely glow and still has a great amount of coverage without breaking down and looking patchy or shining. (Please note I do not wear a lot of powder with this foundation because I have dry skin I don't need a lot, I just do a small dusting all over, but you may want a bit more if your skin is on the more oily side.)

I do wear Benefit's Porefessional primer with this foundation on days my skin has more texture to conceal as this helps balance it out better. On days when I'm having a good skin day I use Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow underneath, both work great.

I apply this foundation using a buffing brush, I do find sometimes depending on how my skin is it wont blend as well and will just move the product around on my skin so in areas I need a little extra coverage I build up with a damp beauty blender and then to finish I go over with my damp beauty blender which really helps to give me a blurred flawless finish.
I have found that after around 30 mins this foundation does oxidise the tiniest amount, and I am on about the tiniest amount people not a whole shade colour so please do not let that put you off. My advise is to just make sure you buy the exact colour for your skin, do your makeup in natural daylight and take it down your neck slightly. Finish your makeup and hair then go in and check.

With 23 shades to choose from it can be a little over whelming but they have what I think to be one of the best shade ranges for a drug store foundation, with a great selection of warm, cool and neutral shades there literally is a shade to suit everyone!
Overall the L'Oréal True Match foundation has become my go to every day foundation, it has a very lightweight but buildable formula which doesn't end up looking cakey. Its ever so easy to blend and looks great on the skin throughout the day.

** (The photo above shows my whole face covered with the Loreal True Match foundation, with blusher bronzer and concealer added where I needed more coverage, which was around my chin, mouth, nose and temples.)**

- Easy to blend

- It's a very lightweight formula which is comfortable on the skin

- A very broad shade range

- Photographs nicely

- One layer provides a medium coverage but it builds very easily to a full coverage foundation

- It has a SP17 which helps ward off pro-aging sun damage

- A small amount of oxidisation occurs

- Clogging around the nozzle of the pump can be a small problem so you must keep it clean

- I find for best results it needs to be pushed in with a beauty blender at the end and cannot just be finished with a buffing brush

Have a Fabulous Day!
